After taking some time to focus on artist roster releases, Spynal Records boss Diligent Fingers returns with the second sampler taken from his forthcoming debut Jungle/Drum and Bass LP, ‘ War In Peace ‘.
The Peace Sampler is the follow up to The War Sampler released back in December 2023 and is the lighter side to the album. Where War shows his anger and frustration, Peace displays his self reflection and search for balance within the chaos but is still as fierce and defiant, refusing to be put in any typical sub genre boxes.
‘ A Stroke Of Luck ‘ opens up the project with Sodie’s angelic vocals setting the tone with lines “ Funny how you seem to think we’ve given up “ and “ Every deck you stack against, we rise above “. Bolding playing the card they are dealt and making their own luck, Diligent Fingers and Sodie speak on determination and perseverance against all odds on to of a back drop of deep Rhodes keys, pads and strings, jungle breaks and dark FM basslines.
‘Dusk Til Dawn is up next on a more optimistic note but just as rough.
Soulful organs and opera like vocals build into a track driven by morphing saw bass that you can’t help but feel a sense of hope and doubt from. An emotional dark liquid piece also fit for a club set.
‘ Steal My Soul ‘ is a Liquid and Jump Up fusion of epic proportions finally being released to the public after being premiered on Ray Keith’s award winning Dreadcast show on Thames Delta Radio in 2022.
Opening with cinematic strings and synth leads, muted bells and building raging mid bass that catches you off guard before Dili lets you know “ I Won’t Let You, Steal My Soul “ with his signature smokey vocal harmonies.
With that being said, this is simply a closing track that has to be played and experienced.
